Well, they didn’t “just” happen. During Hillary Clinton’s run as Secretary of State, she was using a private email server instead of the state government server. Confused? Her email address ended with @ClintonEmail.com instead of @State.Gov. When the Benghazi investigations were going on and emails were requested from the State Department it came to light that Hillary was using her own private server. Jackpot. More scandal and more legs to “Beghazi” plus another investigation. The FBI chose not to prosecute and called Hillary’s email set up, “extremely careless”. It left her open to be hacked, which there is no evidence ever happened. As if state servers couldn’t be hacked either right? It was just another scandal to create countless attack ads and another buzzword to add to the 2016 election vocabulary. The next Republican nominee should have plenty of talking points against Hillary around “Benghazi” and “email”. It should be simple for them to paint Hillary negatively and win the election if all goes as planned. Then Donald Trump happened.
When the primaries began no one believed Trump could get the nomination. There is no way the Republican party was going to abandon their own for someone like Trump who has dipped his toe in both sides of the political world. A man who has called Republicans dumb and bashed FOX News. So what happened? Simple, every other Republican nominee crapped the bed. Yes, I said it in PG language of course. Jeb Bush had some name recognition and was supposed to be the favorite. Then Trump Jeb to tghe point that he just looked meek and soft in comparison. Soft is a big no-no in the Republican party. Bye-bye Jeb. Rubio had the chance to be the fresh and energetic “new blood” face of the Republican party, but he just couldn’t get any traction. Along with the strong hate that was brewing for Mexicans and Muslims, Rubio was too much of an “other” for the party to embrace. That left Ted Cruz to dethrone Donald. Nope, Cruz is just not a likable guy and everything about him screams “off”. He’s just got one of those faces that people just can’t trust. While Donald Trump masterfully said nothing of substance in any debate or speech, he was able to throw zingers left and right at the competition the entire primary run and grabbed so many headlines. The man made reference to his penis size and compared his foreign model wife to Ted Cruz’s wife with a disparaging picture. It was real ugly to the point that Cruz still cannot endorse Trump for President. During the primaries some decided not to fire back at Donald, trying to choose the high road, while others fired back too late. Trump was not shy about saying outlandish things about his opponents. Actually about anything, really. So the media and the Republican party ate that up and now we have Hillary vs Trump for President of the United States in 2016. Hold on to your passports America, some of you might need them, this is going to get ugly fast.
